About me and Social Marketing

Having spent a couple of years learning about promoting my web sites, reading around the subject and posting in forums I decided earlier in the year to join the 4th Pillar program

King of Blog Platforms

which helps you promote your blog with a range of tools such as word press add ins and social marketing techniques. I have found the program really useful, it is part of the Lighthouse Marketing System led by Dave Sherwin.

When I first started I threw everything into it staying up late and social marketing all the time, adding blog posts and promoting them with Twitter and Facebook, unfortunatley I didn’t see any leads coming in and my posts were all over the place. The scope of my blog was so wide I could write about just about anything and it would still be relevant to my blog but not to the people I wanted to get to know.

This stopped me building relationships with individuals and social marketing is all about building relationships with people you make contact with in your social network. I found this was a problem and couldn’t work out what I was doing wrong. I was writing a new post virtually every day but the lack of leads when others were reportedly getting numerous leads demotivated me.

Part of the 4th Pillar program is however supported by personal coaching sessions every week, so I asked for a review of my site and social marketing techniques. I’m glad to say with the advice given I then had leads in the system within 24 hours. The problem was my topics were too divers and unrelated to the offer on my site. Targetting a specific area and focussing is certainly doing the trick for me.

I would recommend the Lighthouse Marketing Program and in particular the associated 4th Pillar Program to anyone.
